Glazing Techniques

Technique S

This technique has a very thin layer of pigmented enamel applied partially on the lava stone. This makes the enamel almost see-through and lets the grain of the stone appear underneath. The reflections are discreet and the tact is similar to suede or velvet.

Technique L

This technique has a thick layer of pigmented enamel applied partially on the lava stone. This gives the enamel an intensity of color and creates a precise contrast with the stone underneath. The reflections are intense and glossy. Darker shades of enamel get a mirror effect.

Technique M

This technique has a thin layer of pigmented enamel applied partially on the lava stone. There is a second application of clear glass enamel that covers the whole surface of the tile. This second layer of clear glass is Matt and textured in order to give an anti-slip finish. The reflections are discreet and the tact is slightly rough.

Technique T

This technique has a thick layer of pigmented enamel applied partially on the lava stone. There is a second application of clear glass enamel that covers the whole surface of the tile. This second layer of clear glass is glossy and perfectly smooth. The reflections are intense and glossy. Darker shades of enamel get a mirror effect.

Technique C

This technique has a base layer of white enamel applied on the whole surface of the tile. The second one is a thin layer of pigmented enamel that is applied partially on the white base. Then comes the third and final layer of clear glass that recovers the previous layers to create the typical “craquelé” (crackled) of the traditional techniques and provides a glossy finish and depth to the colors.

Special Edition: Metals

This collection has been created especially to represent the metallic colors. It has thick layer of metallic enamel is partially applied on the lava stone. The reflections are intense and glossy, similar to mercury.
